Theatre > Dogma Theatre
Dogma Theatre has been operating under the original name “Kolomaž Theatre” in Trenčín since 1995 and is the oldest professional independent theatre in the era of independence of the Slovak Republic in the city of Trenčín. The original Kolomaž Theatre was founded in 1995 by Kamil Bystrický, Andrej Ďurík, Tomáš Plánka and Ján Šimko. In the beginning, its members focused mainly on the creation of original and non-verbal productions, later they also dramatized committed literary drama, but they have always been happy to return to original theatre. He often uses new staging methods, new technologies and his favourite choice of themes is current social and political issues. Since 2016, it has continued under the current name “Dogma Theatre”. The change of the name as well as the thematic and artistic direction of the theatre stemmed from several factors. Dogmas are currently absent. In a world of multiple truths and interpretations, the existence of dogma is a necessary contradiction and reaction.
Dogma Theatre is an open independent creative platform and works from project to project with new collaborators. Dogma Theatre’s home stage was first the First Chamber Theatre Stage in Klub Lúč in Trenčín (2013 – 2020) and later (due to the complete reconstruction of the building of the Hviezda Cinema and therefore also the premises of Klub Lúč) it shared with Klub Lúč its spare space in the former Vážka Gallery on Mierovo Square. He is currently working in the newly established Družba Drama Studio on the first floor of Družba OD.
