FROG JAM – traditional local patriotic festival of good music and mood
The history of the multi-genre festival Frog Jam dates back to 1994, when students of the Ľ. Štúr around Jura Benda with interest in music and culture decided to organize a concert of local bands in the premises of the swimming pool club Zelená žaba in Trenčianske Teplice. As the concert of the bands at the end resulted in a “jam” of the members of the individual bands, later the name Frog (from the green frog) Jam spontaneously caught on. Until 2004 this event, already under the name Frog Jam, continued sporadically, depending on the enthusiasm of the organizers, space possibilities, sponsors, etc. and later moved to Trenčín. In the years 2000 – 2004 it was covered by the Municipal Cultural Centre in Trenčín and was held in the Hviezda cinema. The local mini-festival, which featured mostly local and related bands, began to have a supra-regional and even international character. From 2005 to the present day, the Frog Jam festival has been organized by o.z. Kolomaž in the premises of Klub Lúč and Hviezda cinema in Trenčín with occasional support of the city of Trenčín and MKSR later FPU. Alongside the Gympelrock and Pohoda festivals, Frog Jam belongs inseparably to the city of Trenčín and over the years it has had a firm and inseparable place here.
