Zoomka vol.3: Conversations about how a film is made

Almost anyone can shoot a video nowadays. However, what makes someone a good videographer is definitely not just the mastery of the proper technique. It is the cinematographer who, together with the director, determines the final visual appearance of the film.
Ivo Miko is a graduate of doctoral studies in camera and photography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. During his studies he has worked on several television projects and has been awarded several camera prizes for his student films. He has worked as a cinematographer with Miro Remo on the films Comeback and Coolture, and he also collaborated on Barbara Berezňáková’s film The Deed Happened. His feature debut was the roadmovie Stanko by Rasto Boroš, his latest feature project is Punk is Now! by Jura Šlauka. He currently works as a freelance cinematographer. He is one of the founding members of the Association of Slovak Cinematographers, he is involved in workshops and various educational activities.
This time we will show what exactly is the role of a cinematographer with the help of examples from practice. We will talk about how the cooperation on documentary and feature films takes place, and we will learn how series are made.
