In Slovakia and in English in.1

What does it mean to be a foreigner in Slovakia? I deal with this question and its various forms every day. Through my struggles with this little-used and difficult language, or through trying to fit into a culture that seems impenetrable, I try to find a sense of place and meaning.
“My name is Jeremy Hill. I am an American who found his way to Slovakia thanks to his love for the amazing Slovak devas. In the past I was a natural sciences major, but after coming to Slovakia in 2009 I am teaching English. This year I created a podcast called” In Slovakia and in English “where I discuss with other foreigners about their experiences and life in Slovakia.
For the” live “episode of the podcast I have two special guests: Mark Taylor is a Lecturer in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Mark has a PhD in Nutrition and Health. Although he grew up in the South East of England, he has lived and worked in many other parts of the UK. He spent several years in East Africa before settling in the West Country. He enjoys sport and the outdoors. Brian Tranter is originally from Toronto, Canada. Over the past twenty years he has lived in Prague, Bratislava, Belgrade and briefly in Dubai. For the last four years he has lived in Nova Dubnica. He is currently a financial manager for Amazon. Brian is married with 2 children. In his free time he enjoys hiking and mountain biking.”
