GEORGIA
A new screening of ten trips to Georgia, specially edited for the live stream with new photos and experiences. The 5 thousanders of the Greater Caucasus, the hard-to-reach remote mountain valleys where time has stood still, stunning Tbilisi, the vast steppes near the Azerbaijani border, monks still living in cave monasteries, the Black Sea coastline, but also great food and wine and extraordinary hospitality… All this is Georgia, which Whisky has travelled many times offroad, by off-road car through the remotest corners without any hint of tourism.
WILD ROADS
A special online edition of Whisky’s travel cinema, in which he talks about the most interesting, beautiful and remote journeys he’s taken over his many years of travel. It’s a premiere, atypical topic that he’s never screened before, and most of the material will be from countries that have not appeared in his presentations before and may not appear in the future. The first will be the legendary Pamir highway, one of the world’s most beautiful high mountain roads, through which dozens of tons of heroin from Afghanistan travel each year. We will travel 1522km from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan via saddles as high as 4655m, past the seven-thousand-foot peaks of the Pamirs and the Hindu Kush, along the Wakhan Corridor, past the magnificent Afghan border, through Khorog and on to Dushanbe. In the USA, we’ll take off-road drives through the hot deserts of Utah and Nevada, or through the autumn forests of Colorado to the four-thousand-foot heights of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains. Then we’ll head through the war-torn towns and remote settlements of Nagorno-Karabakh, from which we’ll cross the illegal, green border into Armenia via a three-thousand-foot saddle. And finally, we’ll enjoy the breathtaking, 1,247-kilometre-long Carretera Austral, which cuts through the wilderness of southern Chile through the vast virgin rainforests and glaciers of beautiful Patagonia, passing through more than 20 national parks.
IRAN
The huge vibrant Tehran, the remote mountain villages of Kurdistan, the endless deserts and the green shores of the Caspian Sea, the magnificent sights of Esfahan, Qom and Yazd, the world’s largest indoor bazaar in Tabriz, but most of all the kind and extremely hospitable Iranians….and this is what we will be talking about in the next installment of Whiskey’s travel cinema.
SOUTHWEST USA
The vast deserts and huge canyons of Arizona, off-road drives through the autumn forests of Colorado up to the four-thousand-foot heights of the Rocky Mountains, bizarre rock formations in Antelope Canyon or Monument Valley in Utah, the huge sand dunes of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the breathtaking meanders of the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park, one of the most scenic coastal roads in the world and white Pacific beaches under the high cliffs of California’s Big Sur, the Grand Canyon, the hot Death Valley, or trekking in the beautiful Zion National Park, the world’s largest trees in Sequoia National Park, but also the capital of kitsch and gaudiness Las Vegas or charismatic San Francisco… this will also be the subject of the next installment of Whisky Travel Cinema.
