STANDARD SOCIETY (SK)
The waking world seems as strange and strange to the dreamer as the dream world seems to the waking world. Wakefulness is a strange dream to the dreamer. The Standard Society documents this wakefulness – it documents the dream that the dreamer dreams. Above sea level the light is harsh and the air is unbreathable, but the dream returns with urgency every morning. The first step is to remember it …
Standard Society is an open collaborative audiovisual project backed by f/error (FARA, Hedgerows). The working methods are surrealist and documentary. The musical scopes are ambient, industrial and rhythmic noise. Live electronic performances are varied, improvised and may include video art (Michal Dankulinec), performance (Zuzana Psotková) and other elements – brass, chains, bass guitar (Zoder) and guests.
Standard Society’s current raw live performance works with minimalism, a female performer and two voices. Peformance takes place in the auditorium, amongst the audience and often in unusual spaces, the specifics of which the pair exploit during their programme. The sibling face of Standard Society saw the light of day at its premiere performance in the boiler room of a tobacco factory as part of the 66 Hours festival program in Smolnik.
