#Kjúb 03: Whisky’s Travel Cinema: Wild Roads
A special online edition of WCK in which he talks about the most interesting, beautiful and remote roads he has travelled during his many years of travelling. This will be a first, atypical topic that he has never covered before and most of the material will be from countries that have not appeared in his presentations before and may not appear in the future. The first will be the legendary Pamir highway, one of the world’s most beautiful high mountain roads, through which dozens of tons of heroin from Afghanistan travel each year. We will travel 1522km from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan via saddles as high as 4655m, past the seven-thousand-foot peaks of the Pamirs and the Hindu Kush, along the Wakhan Corridor, past the magnificent Afghan border, through Khorog and on to Dushanbe. In the USA, we’ll take off-road drives through the hot deserts of Utah and Nevada, or through the autumn forests of Colorado to the four-thousand-foot heights of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains. Then we’ll head through the war-torn cities and remote settlements of Nagorno-Karabakh, from which we’ll cross the illegal, green border into Armenia via a three-thousand-foot saddle. And finally, we’ll enjoy the breathtaking, 1,247-kilometre-long Carretera Austral, which cuts through the wilderness of southern Chile through the vast virgin rainforests and glaciers of beautiful Patagonia, passing through more than 20 national parks.
