“Nothing that has any real meaning is easy. Simple does not occur in adult life.”
Dominik Suchý
Dominik Suchý is a composer, producer, sound designer and engineer. Compared to his other projects, his solo work is more austere and emptier, yet more urgent and intense. Sharp, deep, challenging. In music he seeks the ultimate truth of being. His music evokes an atmosphere of inconsolable anxiety, melancholy and (in)hope, stemming from the tensions and challenges of contemporary society // the world. In addition to his solo work, he is active in the projects Tittingur and Weltschmerzen, and as an independent sound engineer and designer. Together with Tomas Pristiak and Matúš Mordavský, he founded Weltschmerzen, a label focused on contemporary experimental and romantic music, in 2019. 14. February, he releases his third solo album “Every Love Is an Exercise in Depersonalisation on a Body Without Organs Yet to Be Formed”.
The concert will be a digital launch of the Suché album, which was made possible thanks to the support of the Arts Support Fund.
from the reviews:
“A riveting and intense album, II is a contender for the most impressive electronic release of the year.” Peter Gonda, Radio Wave CZ, 2016
“Suchý takes his precise musical darkness to an emotional extreme (…) In terms of both level and quantity, Slovak electronica has never been better” Filip Drábek, Pravda, 2016
“From Denmark to Iceland, to Bratislava and back again. Suchý is one of the most overlooked talents of deep electronic exploration.” Exitab label, 2016
“Extremely cohesive and at times exhaustingly emotive experimental electronica.’ Teapot, producer, 2016
Tomáš Prištiak
He likes to call his work simply “emotional music”. Looking from the outside, it could be described as a carefully kneaded blend of field recording, electronic production and the harsh sounds of classical acoustic instruments. It is interested in the intermingling of non-musical sound as a medium and the practices of contemporary music (whatever that means). He enjoys creating collaborations with artists from the music, art and even fashion scenes. He is active in the musical group Weltschmerzen, as one of the duo Tante Elze, and as a solo performer (album Artificial Valve/Mechanical Heart Valve).
Ondrej Zajac
He is one of the most active young names of the avant-garde scene in Central Europe. The genre-less guitarist seamlessly combines experimental music, jazz, ambient, minimalism and prepared techniques.
He has released recordings on his own and in collaborations in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, England, Mexico, Peru, composes music for short films and gallery exhibitions, has played improvised concerts with dozens of musicians, and is a member of the bands Banausoi and Data Koroptev. He has been praised by major international media, his solo recordings have topped the best album charts and in 2017 he received the award for the most interesting new act at Prague’s Alternativa festival. His desire to explore new worlds is demonstrated by his constant denial of everything he is associated with.
He has performed in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Japan; audiences have heard him at festivals, in apartments, clubs, cultural centers, apple orchards, dilapidated buildings, galleries, bookstores, city walls, trams, churches, mills, atomic shelters, museums, phone booths, and botanical gardens.
From the reviews:
“Ondrej Zajac makes some of the harshest fucking zen noise we’ve heard for a while…” The Quietus
“Throughout these lengthy numbers, translucent guitar tones and funereal violin scratchiness roil amid inky shadows; and Zajac is at his best when music’s cracks and irregularities highlight a very human misery.” The Wire Magazine
“…one of the most honest and powerful works we’ve come across…” Can You Ear It?
“Ondrej Zajac had already made his peculiar and special audience used to a radical and avant-garde approach, a stronghold in technical rigidity and uncoventional extemporizing attitudes.” Neural Magazine
